SINC Sites on Campus

Our goal is to introduce you to locations that might be new to you or ones that you simply wouldn't normally study at. However, we'd like to take an opportunity to introduce the Stony Brook SINC Sites, many students aren't aware of them or their services. Listed below are the locations available to students. You can learn more on the Stony Brook SINC Site page.

*Hours vary by semester so you can find the current SINC Site schedule in the link above*

computer Science

Chemistry

This site is located in Chemistry 434. It's usually not a very busy location. It is fairly small site where you are seated at circular tables. The seating makes it easy for small groups to be able to work together. A printer is also available here.

The CS Site is located in the Old Computer Science building on the second floor. This site is not open very often making it a good place for some serious quiet studying.

Engineering

Besides the Sites in the library, Engineering SINC Site is one of the busiest sites. It's usually the busiest during the afternoons when people are printing before classes.

fine arts & fine arts hybrid lab

Located in the Fine Arts building in Staller, these sites open in the late afternoon/evening making this another location best suited for individual study. Fine Arts Hybrid Lab carries equipment suited for producing or creating media so this might not be the best place for you if you intend on spreading out at a desk.

Harriman Hall

The Site at Harriman Hall is not a popular one, this site has a handy whiteboard available which makes it useful for group work. This also happens to be a quiet area in general, as this site is often open during the evenings.

HSC Collar computer Lab & HSC library commons

Although this might be a bit of a distance for some of us, these sites are open until pretty late at night. If the Reading Rooms in the library aren't your cup of tea, maybe these sites will suit you better!

Humanities Lounge

The lounge houses a Student Consultant from morning to evening but this site is always open to students (including weeknds!). You are allowed to have food and drinks in this site at the round tables available.

Life sciences

This site is mainly open during the evenings. It's one of the few that also carries a scanner for students to use. Based on its location, you can expect this site to not be too busy.

physics

Physics SINC Site is possibly one of the smallest sites on campus. However, if you like natural light environments this might be a good place for if you don't like the larger locations (i.e Humanities Atrium or Melville Library Atrium).

social & behavioral sciences

This site is open all day, a little out of the way but can be a handy place for group study and individual work.

Main library

Main Library SINC Site is the hub of all sites. Depending on the time of day it can get very busy with students queuing to print documents or asking for help at the main desk. If you're in need of color printing or a scanner, this is a good place for you.
